Hated the introduction of the mansplainer just to teach men a lesson to not disagree with anything a woman ever says or your an ass who deserves to be killed by a flying Asteroid. My views on Season 2 Pilot: SPOILERS вЂ“ I liked Captain Pike. Naw, I'm just not gonna watch and save myself the grief. Naw, they gotta name drop and now bring in half as versions of well established characters. Is like they don't think they can make a show that exists along side TOS but doesn't have a thing to do with it. This all I feel was unnecessary and is a slam dunk to piss people off. Some simply moved to new shows but were in no way as close as Bernham and Spock. Why? It wasn't that way on any of the prev Treks. If this was a 'reboot' in the JJverse that's coo, but the 2 biggest mistakes in my view are 1, their main character isn't the Captain (but they clearly want her to be portrayed as the smartest and most talented of everyone no matter what) and 2 they tied her too close to a main character of TOS. I think I'm just gonna stick with oldschool Trek until these people get the sticks out of their butts. The first two episodes seem a whole lot better, so I'm mildly optimistic. So, despite my somewhat 'meh' reaction to Season 1, I'll give Season 2 a chance. It seems they're going to hew more closely to Federation ideals and beliefs. Season 2, Episode 1 is a soft reboot of the series. What I have problem with is with Klingon cannibals and no sense of honor. That would've been a great way to flesh Klingons out by showing different ethnicities in an alien species. I don't have too much trouble with the new Klingon look if it were one of many. I DO have serious problems with Discovery, especially as it has run roughshod over the ideals the Federation was supposed to espouse on Season 1, like starting a war of aggression and even seriously considering genocide until Burnham, said warmonger has an epiphany and stops the logical conclusion of the war she started. I wish there were more aliens in Discovery, but prosthetics and CGI is expensive. In fact, it's reflective of what should be an 'Earth' ship where Caucasians are the minority of the global population. Star Trek is supposed to be utopian and thus having a totally diverse cast where white male actors are the minority, is fine. I have to stop you and argue back about the fact that lack of white characters where the alleged majority of male white viewers can identify is a bit disingenuous at best.
